Websites! A Widespread Marketing Tool that Makes All the Difference for Individuals (featuring Weebly Website Builder)

We all know and think of websites as a tool for companies or businesses to create a market presence, but we do not realize how important websites can be for us as individuals. Nowadays, everyone is trying to appeal to employers and a website is the perfect place to show them what you are all about! You can use it as a personal portfolio to host all your works and life aspirations. It does not have to be just for employers, but for anyone who wants to know more about you or even if you want to start your own online store. If a website is the backbone of an online business, then why can it not be one for our online presence. Creating a website for yourself is the first step to putting yourself out into the world. It can be a platform to support all your other social media marketing efforts.

The first step to creating a website is finding a good website builder site, such as Weebly. After creating an account, you can start by choosing from one of the many templates or of course you can build from scratch. I am creating a personal portfolio, so to have a better set up I chose one of the templates.

Now that you have a template chosen, you can start editing the content. I decided to change the number of tabs based on what I needed and deleted any unnecessary elements from the pages.

Another important tip while arranging the pages, make sure that the buttons are linked to the correct pages you want them to take you to!

Since this is my digital portfolio, I wanted a page to display my artwork. For this all I had to do was upload my images from my computer and size them accordingly on the page. A portfolio website is a great way to showcase your work whether it be photography, art, event planning, poems, etc. Also, the main reason a website is great for this purpose is because with just a link you can have access to all your work, whenever and wherever as long as you have an internet connection. That way you can easily pull it up to show others or they can look at it when they want.

Finally, always make sure to put contacts on your website, so people can reach out to you. A footer with all your social media accounts, email, and phone number is a good element to have. If you want to go further, you can create a contact page with a contact form that is connected to your email.

I definitely recommend creating a website for whatever purpose you wish for. Not only will it liven up your resume, but is just a great way to show how talented you are.
